GENO

Geno begins
rehearsals for
Parade
at the
Cygnet Theatre
this February.

Geno recently returned to his
San Diego Theatre Critics Circle
nominated performance in
The Servant of Two Masters
from January 6 - 15!

Geno starred as Truffledino in the world premiere of a new musical adaptation of The Servant of Two Masters at Lamb's Players Theatre!

"Brilliantly, Geno Carr steals the entire proceedings with an absolutely delicious over-the-top performance of the hungry Truffledino, who throughout the livelong day never gets a meal..."

Charlene Baldridge

"...Lamb's Players has created a comic and musical stew in its rollicking new musical adaptation of the romantic farce."

"Geno Carr plays the quick-on-his-feet Truffledino, ricocheting between two masters he thinks might feed him. The crackerjack cast, in Jeanne Reith's delightfully gaudy costumes, moves and speaks as a true ensemble."

SD Union Tribune

"Geno Carr is a good physical comedian as the likable servant Truffledino..."

North County Times

"...a barrel of silly fun... a straight-on, romp-in-the-park farce with stock commedia dell'arte characters enhanced by terrific production values."

San Diego Gay and Lesbian News

"The open area downstage becomes, in no time at all, Geno Carr's playground. He plays Truffeldino (the name change to "truffle" underscores a recurring food motif) and cavorts with lazzi. Carr deftly shows that the most burdened character in the commedia, the servant, is the freest actor on stage."

"A basic requirement of a lazzi: it must be repeatable. The production has a tongue-twisting, "who's on first" set of directions that Carr begins and others must repeat, even faster. It's an ongoing bit that, unlike most ongoing jokes, grows funnier."

San Diego Reader

"And finally there is the comedic tour-de-force of the show - the dim-witted Truffledino (brought to life with playful abandon by the clownish Geno Carr). While he plays the part of the fool, he’s clearly smarter than he looks as he attempts to double his earnings by serving two masters: both Beatrice and Florindo."

Arts n Fashion

"Geno Carr is outrageous and devious as Truffaldino. The little shtick with his limbs showing up in two trunks at the same time is a clever and classic tactic, as he appears to be in two places at once. And as for being just plain physically adroit, he heads the list. And he's very funny as well."

"And Geno Carr just about steals the show as Audrey's abusive dentist boyfriend, Orin Scrivello, who's discovered a profitable career where he can indulge his sadistic tendencies. Carr's a nimble singer and dancer and a versatile actor who brings some surprises to the role of Orin, as well as several other small, quick-change roles."

North County Times

"Strong performances are brought in by Geno Carr who plays a mean Orin with a sense of sadism but not terrifyingly so. He also plays a number of walk on characters and manages them all with fun and panache."

San Diego Jewish World

"Brandon Joel Maier and Phil Johnson hit all the right notes as Seymour and Mr. Mushnik, and Geno Carr shows impressive versatility as a passel of baddies (including the dentist from hell "paid to be inhumane")."

San Diego Reader

"...especially Melissa Fernandes as the bimbotic bad girl Audrey and the exceptional Geno Carr as her sadistic dentist boyfriend."

"...and every appearance of Carr - as the leather-clad, Elvis-like dentist, various agents and solicitors of both sexes - brings just the right degree of camp."

San Diego Union-Tribune

"Little Shop of Horrors, at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town, is a hoot and a holler filled with chutzpah...The performers all sing strongly... and dance cleverly and energetically"

SanDiego.com

"...Geno Carr is a hoot in a number of roles and accents, from the pompadoured, Elvis-like dentist to the Germanic fiend who propagates the bloodthirsty bulb..."

Pat Launer, Center Stage

This summer, Geno sang some barbershop as Jacey Squires in The Music Man with Lamb's Players Theatre in Coronado.

"The acting ensemble brims with talent, from such Lamb's regulars as Kerry Meads, Kurt Norby, Lance Arthur Smith, Geno Carr and a particularly inspired John Rosen..."

"...an ace vocal quartet (Norby, Smith, Carr and John Burt Polhamus) also do justice to the barbershop harmonies..."

San Diego Union Tribune

"And special kudos goes to the men of the barbershop quartet: John Burt Polhamus as Oliver Hix, Kurt Norby as Ewart Dunlop, Geno Carr as Jacey Squires, and Lance Arthur Smith as Olin Britt.  Not only do they stay in perfect step throughout, but their lovely voices blend beautifully.  Their pitch perfect harmonies will give you goose bumps."

Arts N Fashion Magazine

"Also excellent are the squabbling city leaders (whom Hill unites in a perfectly harmonized barbershop quartet) played by John Burt Polhamus, Kurt Norby, Geno Carr and Lance Arthur Smith."

North County Times

"It's a simple plot, augmented by wonderful touches like a terrific barbershop quartet (Kurt Norby, Geno Carr, John Polhamus and Lance Arthur Smith)..."

SD Gay and Lesbian Times

"Let's hear it for Geno Carr, Kurt Norby, John Burt Polhamus and Lance Arthur Smith, who portray warring school board members who later blend and friend thanks to Hill and the folks at the barbershop."
